This year, the higher education department introduced the portal for the first time, and it validated 5,27,673 applications after scrutiny. Among these, 2,99,800 were from women. Additionally, there were 50 applicants from the 'others' category, which includes LGBTQ+ members. In total, 34,64,918 applications were submitted, with 98,089 coming from outside Bengal.

Siuli Sarkar, Principal of Lady Brabourne College, expressed her approval of the trend, highlighting that more girls are pursuing higher education. She pointed out that traditional views often direct boys towards technical and science-oriented disciplines while steering girls towards general streams. Despite this, girls are increasingly overcoming these challenges and excelling in their chosen fields. Lady Brabourne College itself received approximately 15,000 applications from female students for undergraduate courses.
