The Uttar Pradesh government has announced an initiative to provide scholarships to the students enrolled in over 500 Sanskrit schools, eliminating the income gap of Rs 50,000 annually. In addition, the scholarship amount has been increased for students in classes 9 to 12, ranging from Rs 50 to 200 per month.

A recent cabinet meeting, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, resulted in a decision to increase the amount of scholarship for students in classes 9 to 12 in these schools. As a result of the meeting, Secondary Education Minister Gulab Devi announced that since most students pursuing Sanskrit education come from economically disadvantage backgrounds, scholarships shall now be given to students in Prathama (classes 6,7 and 8) under Sanskrit education.

The Minister declared students in class 6 and 7 shall receive Rs 50 per month, while class 8 students will receive Rs 75 per month. Additionally, the minister has revised the amounts of scholarship for classes 9, 10, 11 and 12, with class 9 and 10 receiving Rs 100 per month and class 11 and 12 will receive Rs 200 per month.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna declared that previously set income limit restricted to families with annual income Rs 50,000 has been abolished. The new proposal states that this new initiative will benefit 1,21,573 students currently studying in 517 Sanskrit schools across the state.

He also stated that the revised scholarship scheme will require a budget allocation of Rs 19.65 crore. Additionally, for the current fiscal year the scholarship applications will be accepted offline as well as an online system which shall be introduced in the next financial year. In the recent cabinet meeting 13 proposals were approved.

Minister Jaiveer Singh said that the tourist houses operating a loss or near closure, will be privatised for 15 years, with a possible 15-year extension. This decision will upgrade tourist infrastructure boost the overall travel experience.
