UNESCO has launched a call for nominations for the 2025 L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Award. This edition will honor five outstanding scientific researchers in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The honorees receive a prize of 100,000 euros for their substantial contributions to scientific research.
Eligible persons must submit their applications to the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU) before July 1, 2024. The INCCU will next forward the nominations to the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, for additional evaluation.
- The international scientific community must recognize candidates' scientific excellence.
- Candidates must have actively contributed to scientific research.
- Self-nominations and nominations from intimate family members are not acceptable. The honor is presented to individuals, not teams.
The program was launched in 1998. The L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Awards have recognized 132 winners, seven of whom have also received the Nobel Prize.
