The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) issued a circular stating the Assistance of Scribe to PwD/ PwBD candidates or SSC’s Scribe Procedure on the official website.

According to the official notice “In case of remaining categories of persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD), the facility of scribe will be provided on production of a certificate at the time of examination to the effect that the person concerned has physical limitation to write, and scribe is essential to write examination on his behalf, from the Chief Medical Officer/ Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Government health care institution as per proforma at Annexure-I”

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBDs), will be provided with the facility of compensatory time and assistance of scribe to eligible candidates, with disability of less than 40 percent according to the guidelines. In case of PwBD candidates in the category of blindness, locomotor disability and Cerebral Palsy, if they wish they will be provided with the scribe assistance.

Candidates to please note that if the candidate has opted the scribe assistance in the online application form, then only, he/she shall be provided with the assistance. Candidates have the option to choose their own scribe or utilize the one provided by the commission.

Requirements for own scribe:

  1. Individuals must complete their one-time registration (OTR) on the commission’s website before they serve as a scribe.

  2. A scribe is permitted to assist only one candidate during the exam.

  3. Candidates cannot act as scribes for others in the same examination.

  4. The scribe’s qualification must be one level lower than those of the candidate’s they are assisting.

  5. Any violation of these rules may result in the cancellation of the candidate’s application, penalties for the scribe and possible legal action as deemed necessary by the commission.
