Schools in Kashmir have declared a 10-day summer vacation due to increasing temperatures

According to the Indian Meteorological Department's website, the Kashmir Valley has experienced above-average temperatures this summer.

Due to rising temperatures in the Kashmir valley, authorities have announced a 10-day summer vacation for all schools up to the senior secondary level starting from July 8, officials reported on Monday. The Education Department issued this order late Sunday, the officials stated. "All government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division will observe summer vacations from July 8, 2024, to July 17, 2024. Online guidance will be available for students if needed," the order mentioned.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department's website, the Kashmir valley has experienced higher-than-usual temperatures this summer. On Sunday, the IMD reported that the temperature reached 32.7 degrees Celsius, which is 3.1 degrees above the seasonal norm. It added that the minimum temperature last night was 21.8 degrees Celsius, 4.5 degrees higher than typical for this time of year.
