At present the South India is facing heavy rainfalls, in view of the extreme weather conditions including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have directed the private and government schools to shut down for physical classes.

Following is the list where the schools have been closed:

Bengaluru: The Urban district collector of Bengaluru, Jagadeesha on October 15,2024, Tuesday evening issued orders to announce school and college closure for October 16,the next day .As the rains are likely to continue for coming days as well.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning and squalls on Wednesday several parts of the state. It includes the coastal, north interior and south interior parts of Karnataka. It had forecasted heavy rainfall in Bangluru and the districts around the coast, north interior and south interior of the state till Friday, October 18,2024, as IMD officials stated.

As per the forecast, the weather conditions are likely to continue for next three to four days.

Similarly in another state, Chennai, a red alert was sounded for Chennai as well and its neighbouring areas as well. As there is possibility of heavy rain.

The Greater Chennai corporation has housed people residing in low lying area in relief centres and support is being extended to them , including food.

The IMD told the depression over Bay of Bengal is now about 360 km east-southeast of Chennai, 390 km east of Puducherry and 450Km southwest of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh “It is likely to move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil-Nadu -South Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Nellore, close to Chennai during early morning of 17th October,” the department shared in a post on ‘X.’

In addition, the educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh have been ordered for closure, across Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore, and Prakasam districts today. The school holidays will continue till October 17.

The authorities are taking necessary precautions for safety of their people.
