Closure Details

District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma announced that educational institutions across Gautam Buddh Nagar will be closed on Friday, while they will resume normal operations on Saturday. Additionally, factories and industries have been instructed to grant paid leave to workers on Friday to ensure they have the opportunity to cast their votes without hindrance.

Focus on Voter Turnout

The administration's decision to close schools, colleges, and provide paid leave to workers underscores a concerted effort to boost voter turnout. District Election Officer Verma emphasized the importance of enabling citizens to participate in the "festival of democracy" by exercising their voting rights.

Incentivizing Participation

To further encourage voter engagement, the administration plans to recognize and reward Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Apartment Owners' Associations (AOAs) that demonstrate improved voter turnout. Commendation certificates will be awarded to these associations, signaling the district's commitment to enhancing democratic participation.

Historical Voter Turnout

Gautam Buddh Nagar has historically recorded lower voter turnouts compared to the national average. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the turnout was 60.47%, slightly below the national average of 67.40%. Recognizing this trend, the district administration is taking proactive measures to reverse this pattern and encourage greater civic engagement.

The closure of educational institutions and provision of paid leave for workers reflect the administration's proactive approach to ensure widespread participation in the Lok Sabha elections. By prioritizing accessibility to polling stations, Gautam Buddh Nagar aims to bolster voter turnout and strengthen democratic processes. Through these efforts, the district underscores the significance of citizen participation in shaping the nation's future through electoral representation.
