QS World Rankings 2025: IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi are among the top 150

The QS World University Rankings 2025, published by Quacquarelli Symonds, recognizes notable advances by Indian universities. IIT Bombay is ranked 118th, while IIT Delhi is ranked 150th, putting both institutes among the top 150 in the world.

The most recent edition of the QS World University Rankings has been announced, and many Indian universities have made significant improvements. Impressively, 61 percent of Indian universities have risen in rank, with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) attaining the highest ranking among Indian institutions.

This year's list is the biggest yet, with over 1,500 universities from 105 higher education systems. The United States, with 197 ranking institutions, followed by the United Kingdom with 90 and mainland China with 71.

For almost 13 times in a row, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has kept its title of the world's best institute.

IIT Delhi and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore have made notable progress. IIT Delhi climbed 47 places, from 197th to 150th, while IISc jumped 14 places, from 225th to 211th. The University of Delhi (DU) achieved the most substantial progress, rising 79 positions from 407th in 2024 to 328th, achieving sixth place among Indian universities. Both IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati achieved significant progress, rising from ranks 344 and 383.
