To protect student safety as the new academic year gets underway, Delhi University (DU) has established a number of anti-ragging measures, such as control rooms, restricted entry, and police presence.

DU will establish two Joint Control Rooms, one in the North Campus (Tel. No. 27667221) and one in the South Campus (Tel. No. 24119832), beginning on August 1 and running until August 10.

These control rooms will act as hubs for reporting and handling any ragging occurrences.

Advertisements and Limited Access

To create awareness, anti-ragging posters have been strategically placed across the North and South Campuses in both Hindi and English.

Furthermore, educational institutions, centers, and dorms have been directed to impose entry restrictions on visitors and to clearly post policies that forbid ragging on their property.

Required activities and visitory squads

In an effort to prevent harassment, all applicants students, hostel occupants, and their parents or guardians must sign an anti-ragging pledge.

Additionally, DU has asked that vigilance squads and anti-ragging or disciplinary committees be formed in all colleges, faculties, departments, and hostels.

Student volunteers from the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the National Cadet Corps (NCC) will be part of these squads to keep an eye out for and stop ragging.

Women's safety and the presence of police

DU has made more efforts to improve security, particularly for female students. Every college will have police pickets outside of it, with women's colleges receiving extra support.

"Delhi police has assured that women police in plain clothes will be deployed in the University as well as outside the premises of each college," reads the official press release. If someone is taunting or ragging someone else, the cops will deal with them.

Safety of PG accommodations

The university advises students who choose to stay as paying guests (PGs) to make sure their PG is properly validated by the local police.

The goal of the area police's routine observation of these accommodations is to guarantee the appropriate safety and security of the resident students.

All students, especially those who are new to the university, should feel protected and supported in Delhi thanks to the many safeguards that Delhi University and Delhi Police have put in place.
