Prime minister Narendra Modi stated today that Indian government has planned to create around 75,000 new medical seats in the period of five years.

The decision about the expansion of nation's Healthcare infrastructure was announced during his speech to the nation on the occasion of India’s 78th Independence day.

In his speech about the expansion of Healthcare services, PM Modi stated the need to increase the trained medical professionals in India. He also expressed about the COVID-19 pandemic situation where the gaps between our Healthcare facilities and Medical Infrastructure reflected and the growing need of doctors, nurses, and other Healthcare workers as well.

PM Modi also talked about the accomplishments, particularly in the Healthcare sector over the period of last 10 years. We have ensured that nearly 1 lakh medical seats for the students should be provided over the decade. “More than 25,000 students go abroad for affordable medical education, and they are having to go to such places that it startles me”, he stated.

Accepting the growing need of medical education and infrastructure within the country, he added, “ Due to this we have concluded that in the next five years we will be creating around 75,000 new medical seats for students.”

PM Modi further highlighted about the government’s commitment for the increasing number of hospitals and medical seats in India. This will be a beneficial step for aspiring doctors and it may also develop the country’s Healthcare capacity. We have sanctioned an increase in the number of hospitals, MBBS seats in government and private medical institutions with a focus of setting up new colleges in states and districts that are undeserved.

This new update in Medical Infrastructure and Healthcare facilities will be an important step in making our nation healthier.
