PhD Scholars were awarded by IIT Delhi

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT D) today has announced the ‘Research Communications Award (RCA)’ for its PhD scholars with an aim to improve their communication skills. Following their victories in many research communication-related competitions, including Research Story Writing and a three-minute thesis competition, the first batch of winners received a plaque and a monetary award of Rs 25,000 each.

The "Research Story Writing Competition" required PhD candidates to compose a brief narrative that was inspired by their study. A engaging story about the importance of their research and their own role in it had to be told, with an eye toward a broad audience. PhD candidates had three minutes to present their work to a general audience as part of the "three-minute thesis competition" (3MT). As per IIT Delhi, the 3MT competition honors the findings made by the students and fosters their ability to convey the significance of research to the wider audience. Eleven PhD candidates in all won the 3-Minute Thesis competition and were given the Research Communications Award.

Ankita Raj (Computer Science), Ritanksha Joshi (Biochemical Engineering), Ispshita Majumdar (Chemistry), Shivansh Mehrotra (Materials Science and Engineering), Kusum Saini (Civil Engineering), Sushovan Ghosh (Atmospheric Sciences), Simran Kaur Rainu (Biomedical Engineering), Idhi Nitin Patil (Biochemical Engineering), and Anusha Jain (Chemical Engineering) are among the students who won the 3MT at IIT Delhi.

In the meantime, IIT Delhi hosted a "Research Scholar Week" in March of this year. According to IIT Delhi, the initiative was created with the specific goal of empowering research scholars through work-life balance and well-being, increasing productivity, raising awareness of research, and creating a lively scholarly community. This initiative by IIT Delhi fosters better communication skills among researchers, enhancing their ability to engage wider audiences with their work.
