As the highest-scoring member of the entire BTech/BDes cohort, Vedant Gaurang Shah, a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, was granted the President of India Gold Medal.
The 26th convocation event saw a total of 2150 students from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) get their degrees in a variety of fields (1682 Male and 468 Female).
A varied mix of students make up the graduating class: there are 932 BTech and BDes, 655 MTech and MDes, 277 PhD and Dual (Masters + PhD) students, 182 MSc students, 54 MA students, 34 MS (Research) students, and 16 MBA students.
As the highest-scoring member of the entire BTech/BDes cohort, Vedant Gaurang Shah, a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, was granted the President of India Gold Medal. The student who ranks first among all eligible students in the batch getting the degrees of Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Design and has the highest Cumulative Performance Index is given the President of India Gold Medal each year.
The Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal was given to Rethyam Gupta, a BTech student in engineering physics. This medal is given to the graduating student who is deemed to have demonstrated the highest level of general competency, which includes behavior, character, academic excellence, extracurricular involvement, and community service.
In addition, the Governor of Assam UG Gold Medal went to Pranshu Kandoi, a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, while the Governor of Assam PG Gold Medal went to Arpita Ray, an MTech in Geotechnical Engineering. The student who obtains the second-highest Cumulative Performance Index among all eligible students in the batch receiving the degrees of Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Design is given the "Governor of Assam Gold Medal" for excellence to meritorious Undergraduate Student.
There are 698 research and consulting projects underway at IIT Guwahati, with a total sanctioned value of about Rs 389 crores. According to the institute, 473 new research and consulting projects totalling an approved value of Rs 145 crores were started in the year under review.
