The Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan will announce the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for 13 categories today, on August 12, 2024 at 3 pm. The parameter for NIRF rankings is teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and perception.
The NIRF rankings will cover 13 categories including universities, colleges, research institutions, engineering, management, pharmacy, medical, dental, law, architecture and planning, agriculture and allied sectors and innovation.
According to the last year’s ranking, IIT Madras secured the top spot in the ‘overall’ category, followed by IISc Bengaluru and IIT Delhi in second and third place respectively. For the 7th consecutive year, Miranda House topped the NIRF rankings, with four other DU colleges were ranked among the top 10 in the NIRF rankings. The NIRF framework outlines methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology is based on recommendations and findings of a Core Committee set up by MHRD which identifies the key parameters for ranking various universities and institutions.
Union Education Minister will announce the rankings today at 3 pm, the list will be available on their official website of NIRF . This year, institutions will receive two types of rankings: an overall ranking and a discipline-specific ranking where applicable.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was officially introduced by the Ministry of Resource Development (HRD) on September 29, 2015, with the Minister of HRD formally launching initiative.
The NIRF ranking event will be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Minister of State Education Sukanto Majumdar shall also be present at this event. The list of NIRF ranking shall be available for the candidates on the official website of NIRF.
