Medhavi Skills University launch Beauty and wellness programme

Beauty and wellness industry has been growing at a drastic rate, recognising the potential of the sector while addressing the concerns of unemployment, Medhavi Skills University (MSU) and Orane International, a training partner of NSDC have collaborated to launch beauty and wellness programme. It is to offer employment to tier 1, 2 and 3 across. The purpose is to bridge the skills gap and promote higher education and employability.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed on September 24,2024. It is to establish the industry -academia strategic partnership. Under this partnership, MSU will provide industry-aligned UGC-recognised BVoc (Bachelors of Vocation) Courses in Cosmetology and Makeup Artistry for professionals in beauty and wellness sector.

This partnership is a step towards transformative precedent in a predominantly unorganised and skill-heavy industry where a huge amount of number lacks the formal qualification, irrespective of their expertise. While addressing the key gap, the sector has been limited to short-term skill-based courses leaving a void in educational qualifications.

Pravesh Dudani, Founder and Chancellor of Medhavi Skills University on this occasion said, “This collaboration marks a significant leap in formalising the unorganised beauty and wellness sector, offering students a clear path to higher education. By aligning with NEP 2020, our programmes blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills, placing 70% emphasis on real-world application. The flexibility in entry and exit points, as outlined in the NEP, ensures that learners from diverse backgrounds can benefit. This industry-immersive approach, with Orane’s 120 training centres, will address unorganised employment and raise professional standards across the sector."

Students had to seek alternatives outside the country or courses which were not related , this partnership will bridge the gap and offer skill-rich sector specific degree, diploma and certification programme. It is a step towards advancement in this sector. As it will ensure both the academic credits and professional opportunities.
