Madhya Pradesh schools will host cultural events in honor of Guru Purnima

On July 20 and 21, schools in Madhya Pradesh are required to mark the "Guru Purnima" holiday by hosting events that showcase Indian culture and the guru-shishya tradition. Students will learn about the customary Indian teacher-student interaction, per a directive from the School Education Department.

Teachers will go into further detail about the significance of this practice and the importance of Guru Purnima on the first day, after the morning prayer. The next activity for the students is to write essays with an emphasis on "Gurukul" in ancient India and "Bharatiya Sanskriti" (Indian culture).

On July 21, the second day, there will be a lamp-lighting ceremony and a prayer ceremony honoring the gurus and the goddess Saraswati. At a special ceremony, instructors will be honored, and students will share personal narratives that highlight their ties with one another.

The decree from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav describes this program, which intends to inculcate a greater awareness of Indian cultural values and the significance of the guru-shishya bond.
