Last five year's NIRF ranking of IIIT Hyderabad

The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H), which was established in 1998, is now placed 47th in the engineering category of the most recent NIRF 2024 rankings. IIIT Hyderabad fell outside of the top 100 institutions overall this year, landing in the 101–150 rank range instead.

The IIIT Hyderabad has improved its engineering ranking from the previous year, coming in at number 55 in 2023 and number 47 in 2024. An independent university with NBA and NAAC accreditation, it came in at number 84 in the national rankings for all universities in 2023. Few people are aware that IIIT-Hyderabad was formerly the Indian Institute of Information Technology. After becoming a deemed university in 2001, the institution changed its name to the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad.

The institute employs own entrance test in addition to CUET PG for admissions. The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad Postgraduate Entrance Examination (IIIT H PGEE) is a national exam that applicants for graduate and research programs including MTech, MS, and PhD must pass.

IIIT-H scored 65.47 for teaching, learning, and resource ecosystem (TLR) and 40.89 for research, professional practice, and collaborative performance (RPC) in the most recent NIRF 2024 rating. An index is used to rank the performance starting at 100. The NIRF 2023 graduation outcome is 66.90. When comparing the 2018 rankings, it is evident that the Institute placed in the top 50 engineering institutes in the nation three times. However, the Institute has seen a fall in the last two years (2022 and 2023). Since 2018, this is the first time the Institute has been placed in the NIRF overall category.
