The Solan district will host a new "center of excellence" for people with disabilities, according to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The facility is expected to be finished in two years. This facility would serve 300 pupils in Tikkari hamlet, Kandaghat area, with education and full amenities.
In the Solan district, the state's chief minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, unveiled plans to create a ground-breaking “center of excellence” for those with disabilities up to the age of 27. Situated in the Tikkari hamlet of Kandaghat area, this state-of-the-art facility will house 300 students and offer them a full range of amenities, including residential accommodation and playgrounds, along with a high-quality education.
Chief Minister Sukhu emphasised that sufficient finance would be guaranteed and that the state government will finish the project in two years. For this project, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment has been given a 45-bigha government land piece. Contour mapping, creating a Detailed Project Report (DPR), and starting the tender process after the DPR are all under the purview of the Public Works Department (PWD).
With the PWD setting the foundation and the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment investigating different national institute models to determine suitable courses for visually and hearing-impaired students, the proposed center intends to provide necessary facilities for differently-abled students. To finalize the center's procedures, a committee of specialists from the Composite Regional Centre, Sundernagar, has been created. In order to incorporate best practices, a visit to the Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities in Chennai is also scheduled.
The state government has devoted the last ninety days to assisting marginalised communities, fighting for their rights, and reintegrating them into society. Several programs have been proposed to improve their well-being and offer all-encompassing assistance.
