Joint CSIR UGC NET 2024 starts today; test checklist

The test will take place in computer-based test (CBT) format, and students must arrive at their testing location half an hour before the test begins.

Starting today, July 25, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) UGC NET 2024 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The admission cards are available for download on the official website, csirnet.nta.ac.in, for the candidates. Exam day for the Joint CSIR UGC NET June 2024 is July 27.

The exam has a 180-minute (3-hour) duration and will be administered in computer-based test (CBT) mode. There will be two shifts for the exams: from 3 to 6 pm and from 9 am to 12 pm.

Today's tests for physical sciences, earth, atmospheric, oceanic, and planetary sciences will take place in the morning shift, while the test for mathematical sciences will take place in the afternoon.

Tomorrow, July 26, there will be two shifts for the life sciences paper, and on July 27, the morning shift will be for the chemical sciences.

The exam location must be reached by the candidates at the time and date specified on their admit card. Before taking the exam, students are urged to study the instructions found on their admission card.

 

CSIR UGC NET: Guidelines for Exam Day

- The printed copy of their admit card, one passport-size photo (the same as the one on the application form), any valid government photo ID (such as a voter ID, PAN card, school identity card, passport, ration card, or Aadhar card with enrolment number), and, if relevant, a PwD certificate, are required to be brought by the candidates.

- It is expected of students to be at the testing location thirty minutes early; late arrivals will not be accepted.

- Inside the exam room, candidates are not permitted to bring any bags or anything from the list of forbidden materials.

- Without the invigilator's consent, students will not be permitted to leave their seat or the test room.

- Students must abide by the NTA's guidelines and instructions; any disregard for them will be handled in accordance with the CSIR or NTA.

- Any contestant found to have engaged in unfair practices faces a three-year ban from the competition and legal action.

The three sections of the multiple-choice question (MCQ) paper will constitute its basis. Questions on general aptitude will be found in Part A, subject-related multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in Part B, and questions testing the candidate's comprehension of scientific ideas will be found in Part C. The candidate may choose to administer the test in Hindi or English upon registering.
