Jamia Millia Islamia Encourages online applications for PhD programmes

Online applications are being accepted by Jamia Millia Islamia University for admission to a number of PhD programs starting in the 2024–2025 academic year. Applicants to PhD programs may submit their applications online at admission.jmi.ac.in between October 10 and October 30.

A separate announcement regarding the entrance exam schedule will be made on the official website. It is suggested that applicants monitor the website to learn about entrance exams.

Registration for JMI PhD: How to Apply
Step 1: Applicants must go to admission.jmi.ac.in, the official website.
Step 2: If you are a new candidate, register for an account on the homepage. If not, use the saved login information to log in.
Step 3: Complete the application, upload all required files, and make the application fee payment.
Step 4: Download the application for admission purposes.

In the meantime, 10 "PhD Excellence Citations" will be given out annually by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to honour "high-quality PhD work among young research scholars." According to UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar, the citations would be given out starting next year and will honour "outstanding doctoral research."

They will be awarded for theses in five fields – Sciences including Agricultural Sciences and Medical Sciences; Engineering and Technology; Social Sciences including Education and Humanities; Indian Languages; Commerce and Management.

In an effort to support high-caliber research among emerging scholars, UGC launched the "PhD Excellence Citations" project. Beginning in the following year, a wide range of disciplines will be covered by this designation, including the social sciences, sciences, engineering, commerce, and Indian languages. Applying before the deadline of October 30 is suggested, since Jamia Millia Islamia is now accepting applications for its PhD programs for the 2024–2025 academic year.
