ITI students now get hands-on introduction to careers in AI with new module
In an initiative towards skill-based education, students at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the nation can now discover career opportunities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) with launch of new foundational module. The Directorate General of Training (DGT) and Future Right Skills Network (FRSN) have partnered to introduce a blended curriculum which offers AI awareness and skills directly to ITI classrooms.
The initiative begins with a 7.5-hour module named “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” into the already 120-hour Employability Skills Curriculum. The aim of the course is to help student understand how AI impact jobs, industries and day-to-day tasks providing knowledge into both advantages and difficulties of AI. The key concepts include “Understanding AI,” “Types of AI,” “Impact of AI on Jobs and Industries,” and “Using AI Responsibly.”
One lesson, “Exploring Careers with AI,” will enable learner to discover career options which aligns with their skills and interests through AI-powered career-matching tools. These tools will offer personalised job pathways and introduce career possibilities student may not have known.
It is launched by Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary the module will be implemented around 14,600 ITIs across nation beginning from November.
The Minister highlighted that this AI course is curated to spark curiosity and open student’s idea to real-world applications of AI. “The programme will demonstrate how AI can enhance daily activities, inspiring students to explore the vast potential of AI technology,” he stated.
Atul Kumar Tiari, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship talked about understanding AI’s real-world applications is vital for the future workforce. “This curriculum lays a strong foundation, facilitating a smooth transition from school to work while fostering a sense of responsibility toward AI use,” he commented.
This goal of the approach is to offer young learners with a strong beginning in AI and early career planning, equipping them with skills essential to the rapidly evolving job landscape.
