ISRO establishes a space club for Indian Students in Saudia Arabia, the aim is to provide insights and inspire students in the field of Space Science education.

Indian Space research Organization (ISRO) has partnered with Science India Forum Saudi Chapter. In the ground breaking initiative, the two organizations inaugurated the first-ever ‘Space Club’ at 10 internation Indian Schools in Saudi Arabia.

The Space club marks ISRO’s first internation project. It aims at promoting Space science education and engaging Indian Students in Gulf region with the nation’s advancements in space exploration.

The inauguration was held last week. Both online and offline ceremonies were organized simultaneously. Students gathered in halls in all the participating schools. Biju Mullassery , the National President of the Science India Forum Saudi, honoured the event with their presence. The former ISRO Chairman DR Kiran Kumar delivered the keynote address. It focused on the significant milestones and challenges in space exploration, along with the commercial potential it has.

Dr Anil Bhardwaj, Director of ISRO's Physical Research Laboratory, further explained the design and purpose of India's space programmes.

Dr B N Suresh, Chancellor of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, motivated students to pursue careers in space science. He highlighted on the critical roles of mathematics and science. The Science India Forum’s organisers expressed their delighted and called the initiative as a significant step in promoting and elevating space science education among the Indian expatriate students residing in Gulf, to inspire the scientists and engineers of future.

ISRO is committed to encourage students in creating awareness in the space technology and applications. They are the future hopes for applying technologies for social and economic up-liftment of the country. Several programmes are conceived for students to engage in STEM activities and learning.Some of its programme includes ; establishment of Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (CSSTEAP), YUVIKA - YUva VIgyani KAryakram, UNNATI -UNispace Nanosatellite Assembly & Training by ISRO, Student Satellite Programme and more
