General Education Minister V Sivankutty has stated that the state government is contemplating several steps to allay the worries of kids and parents due to the growing number of complaints over the weight of school bags.

He added in a statement on Friday that the administration would make a decision soon about the problem of heavy school backpacks for kids in the state's classes one through twelve.

To lessen the load, Sivankutty stated that the textbooks are currently being printed and given to the state's students in two sections.

The minister did point out that there are still complaints about school bags being overly heavy.

Instructions will be given to keep Class 1 students' school bags weighing between 1.6 and 2.2 kg, and Class 10 students' school bags weighing between 2.5 and 4.5 kg.

In addition, the government is thinking of implementing the "bag-free days" program in state schools for at least four days per month.
