IMA commends Ministry of Education for entrusting CBI with NEET-UG investigation

The Ministry of Education was thanked by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for handing over the NEET-UG test irregularities investigation to the CBI. The Center was also lauded by the IMA for its prompt handling of the NEET-UG exam controversy.

In a statement on Sunday, the IMA extended its thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister JP Nadda, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for their prompt action regarding the NEET-UG exam issues. The IMA appreciated the Ministry of Education for involving the CBI in the investigation of the NEET-UG exam irregularities.The statement also acknowledged the government's decision to remove the Director General of the NTA and assign additional responsibility to Pradeep Kumar Kharoka as the new Director General of NTA.

The IMA said that offenders engaging in organized crime related to tests might face up to 10 years in prison and a minimum fine of Rs 1 million. The IMA complimented the government for establishing strict legislation to combat malpractice and irregularities in competitive exams.

Underscoring the need to protect India's students' future, the IMA emphasized the significance of administering competitive exams with rigor and secrecy. It praised the government's changes and expressed optimism for a strong system to deal with the problems faced by NEET PG students.

The IMA also urged the Government to ensure the timely commencement of counselling for admissions to medical, dental, and other courses. "We hope for a safe and secure future for our next generations," the IMA stated, welcoming the Government's decisions and appreciating the timely steps taken in this regard.
