IIT madras to receive a grant of Rs 16.5 crore

The Indian Institution of Madras is all set to receive a grant of Rs 16.5 crore from Power Finance Corporation. The grant is for the purpose of an advanced Anatomy lab in the Department of Medical Sciences and Technology. 

Power Finance Corporation is a central public undertaking it is a preferred financial institution. It provides affordable and competitive products and services with efficient and internationally inteegral sourcing and service, it has funded a grant for the purpose of better learning and enriched teaching. 

The students pursuing a bachelor's in Medical Sciences and Engineering will get practical learning in the new anatomy lab. The lab will enhance the capabilities in the field of medical education. The lab is built with cutting-edge technology, besides the already established dry anatomy lab .

Professor V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, addressed on the importance of the anatomy lab, "This world-class anatomy lab, made possible by Power Finance Corporation, represents a significant advancement in medical education at IIT Madras. By merging advanced technology with medical sciences, we are fostering a unique platform for innovation that will drive the future of healthcare."

While discussing the benefits of the lab Parminder Chopra, CMD, PFC said, "This innovative first-of-its-kind Anatomy lab can be used to develop powerful medical devices and explore new technotechnologies for monitoring and treatment. By applying engineering principles to medical knowledge, such research has the potential to revolutionise the healthcare sector.” 

IIT Madras introduced the Department of Medical Sciences and Technology in the year 2023, February.  The department's goal to set up a world-class research environment for medical sciences and technology in order to bring and train physicians, scientists, and engineering physiologists of the coming times.

The initiative to build an advanced Anatomy lab is proof of the institution's commitment to development and experiential learning.
