IIT Madras and the University of Leeds collaborate to work on sustainable development

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the two universities to set up a Joint Virtual Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Development (VCoE - SD). The network aims to significantly enhance collaboration between the University of Leeds and IIT Madras, as well as strengthen existing connections between Leeds academics and other Indian universities focused on sustainable development.

This agreement represents a key milestone in the partnership between these two esteemed institutions, intending to advance knowledge and innovation in several important fields. The project will develop multidisciplinary teams capable of leading research and innovation on global challenges.

The MoU enables the creation of collaborative research projects and the organization of joint academic activities, such as courses, conferences, seminars, symposia, and lectures. It also encourages the exchange of research and teaching personnel, student placements and exchanges, and the sharing of publications and other materials of mutual interest.

The collaboration between the University of Leeds and IIT Madras is expected to produce groundbreaking research results, enhance academic experiences, and strengthen the global network of experts dedicated to addressing critical challenges.
