Notably, Professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala, an entrepreneur and IIT Kanpur alumni, also spoke to the undergraduate students.

Professor Abhijeet Mohapatra, the chairperson of the Senate Postgraduate Committee, led the PG students' orientation. She went over the policies and procedures of the institute and emphasized the value of discipline and academic integrity.

Following that, PG students had meetings with the postgraduate committees of their individual departments to go over specific policies and expectations. This helped to build a strong feeling of community and a greater knowledge of their academic journey.

A special orientation program for more than 2,700 parents of UG students was conducted concurrently.

The Director, the Deans of Academic and Students Affairs, the Head of the Counseling Service, and well-known psychiatrist Dr. Alok Bajpai all shared insightful remarks during this session.

To reassure parents of the institute's dedication to offering top-notch education and all-encompassing support, parents were given an introduction to the academic and administrative frameworks of IIT Kanpur as well as the wellness initiatives implemented to help students.

A 10-DAY PROGRAMME FOR ORIENTATION

Students were introduced to a range of campus events, organizations, societies, and departments during the 10-day orientation program.

These included the Gender Cell, Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), Student Gymkhana, de-addiction programs, internships, industry-academia partnerships, Technopark, student-exchange programs, and cybersecurity protocols.

Counselors at the institute offered advice on embracing change.

A variety of entertaining and educational events were also incorporated into the schedule, including science exhibits, lab visits, senior and freshmen concerts, treasure hunts, Zumba classes, DJ evenings, and tours of the campus, which included the airfield.

In addition, IIT Kanpur has set up a central Anti-Ragging Committee to oversee and implement anti-ragging policies.

Each residence hall has a section that collaborates with the committee to keep the campus harassment-free.

The Institute Counselling Service, which is committed to preserving students' well-being at IIT Kanpur, oversaw the entire orientation program.

Nine full-time clinical counselors, three consulting psychiatrists, and a vibrant group of more than 600 PG and UG students work in the office, which is run by a committed faculty member.
