IIT Guwahati to begin with a Mandarin Course in collaboration with TECC
Indian Institution Technology Guwahati (IIT) has collaborated with the education division of Taipie Economic and Cultural Centre in India(TECC). The purpose of the programme is to enhance educational and cultural exchange among students.
Post-pandemic, the Education Division of TECC has established over 25 education centres across India. Previously there were around 10 institutions established for the same.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed to strengthen the relations between the two nations, India and Taiwan. This marks the 36th Centre of Taiwan Education Centre in India.
The institute will provide adequate resources and infrastructure for beginning with the Taiwan Education Centre. Here, classes, seminars, and other related programmes will be conducted.
It will hire Mandarin language teachers who would specialise in curriculum design and foreign language evaluation. These educators will teach Mandarin courses for designated semesters.
The Mandarin Course goal is to widen the student's linguistic abilities and cultural knowledge. It lays special emphasis on students who aspire to pursue internships and careers in the Taiwan sector.
An IIT Guwahati spokesperson while addressing the crowd"This collaboration aims to introduce Indian students to Mandarin language learning by offering access to high-quality instruction from qualified teachers," he further stated "By doing so, we seek to equip students with essential linguistic and cultural skills that are increasingly valuable in today’s interconnected world."
This partnership shall open new academic, research, and industry opportunities. It will open different doors of pathways and develop a greater appreciation for the global landscape.
The MoU will be in effect for three years. It starts from the date of signing, with provisions for extension. The programme will build stronger ties between IIT Guwahati and Taiwanese Universities. It will happen so by academic exchanges, collaboration, and cooperation, and focusing on educational and cultural connections.
