IIM-Bangalore sets up Centre of excellence on Private Equity and Venture Capital
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore is all set to commence with the centre of excellence on PE and Venture Capital. IIM Bangalore has signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with one if its alumnus, Mathew Cyriac. He is the executive chairman of Florintree Advisors Pvt Ltd. The MoU was signed on August 25,2024 in IIM-Bangalore Campus.
The Centre’s name has been carefully thought upon, it is after investment banker Tony James. The Centre aims to be a global thought leader for research in all issues related to private equity and venture capital.
The Centre is established at the time when Private equity and Venture capital are boosting in our nation, thus gaining greater significance and benefits. Interesting point to note here is , mentioned funds invested $6.9 billion, across 104 deals in Indian companies in May 2024, as per the data from the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF).
As per the official state by IIM-B, “The mission is to create an ecosystem wherein academics, practitioners, and regulators collaborate to develop and nurture world-class private equity and venture capital talent. The first-of-its-kind Centre will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research, education, and industry collaboration in the field of PEVC, where students will connect with industry leaders, gain hands-on insights, and explore the latest trends in PEVC,”
Mathew Cyriac was from the 1994 batch IIM Bangalore alumnus. He is now supporting the new PEVC centre. And not only that, he has also contributed for four new scholarships and classrooms in the IIMB’s K Block, honouring distinguished former IIMB faculty members Prof. Prakash Apte, Prof. Prasanna Chandra, Prof. S. Sundararajan, and Prof. George Varughese, will also be set up with support from him. He truly is a dedicated and sincere student.
The director professor at IIM-B Prof.Rishikesha Krishanan said “This is the single largest ever contribution from an alumnus and we are grateful to Mathew for his generous support”
