Himachal government to introduce prestigious awards for teachers

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced the introduction of awards to honor teachers and school heads for their exceptional contributions to education. This initiative aims to encourage more people to pursue teaching careers, promote effective teaching methods, and elevate the status of educators in the community.

According to Chief Minister Sukhu, 24 teachers will be recognized in two categories: general areas and tribal/hard-to-reach areas. Of these, 15 awards will be for teachers in general areas, and nine will be for those in tribal and hard-to-reach regions.

The government will also present six special awards to teachers who demonstrate exceptional innovation, implement key state programs, and lead special initiatives. The criteria for these awards may vary each year.

Eligible teachers for these special awards include those working in District Institutes of Education and Training, State Council of Educational Research and Training, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan.

Recipients will be selected based on recommendations from a state-level committee under the State Award Scheme.

Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the Congress government's commitment to providing quality education locally and supporting international exposure visits for teachers to adopt best teaching practices.
