The University of Delhi has scheduled student union elections for the session 2024-25 for September 27,2024. The elections of phase 1 has concluded, the next phase has begun from 3:00PM.

The voting procedure is planned in two phases. So, it will be easier to accommodate with different class schedules, the timings are from 8:30AM to 1:00PM for daytime classes and in other phase from 3:00PM to 7:00PM for evening classes.

From the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) , Rishabh Chaudhary has stood up fr the post of President , Bhanu Pratap Singh for Vice President , while from National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Ronak Khatri for president and Yash Nandal for Vice-President, and from All India Student’s Association (AISA) , Saavy Gupta and Ayush Mondal are contesting for the president and Vice President posts respectively. Whereas from Students’ federation of India (SFI) Anamika K and Sneha Aggarwal are contesting for joint secretary position.

Amidst the campaign season, there were reports of defacement and property damage on which a notice had also been issued which stated ,“The DUSU election office is keeping a close watch over the display of banners, posters and the number of vehicles used in rallies and other modes of canvassing by different candidates. These should be strictly within the limits mentioned in the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations,”.

Later Delhi High court ruled, Voting will happen however counting would not take place until the clearance of college premises from posters and banners.

In the previous month, the University of Delhi appointed Satyapal Singh as the Chief Election officer to organize students’ union polls for the year 2024-25. The university has appointed a three-member committee to conduct the 2024-2025 elections for DUSU. Professor Raj Kishore Sharma has been appointed as the chief returning officer whereas Rajesh Singh has been appointed as the returning officer. The returning officer is from the Department of Chemistry and returning officer is a librarian.

Election results are scheduled to be released on September 28,2024.
