DU announces second Mop Up Round

The University of Delhi has announced the second Mop round. The vacant seat list will be displayed on October 14,2024 at 5:00PM as per the schedule. Candidates who wanted to poly could do so on the official site of the university by October 15,2024 till 11:59pm.

Mr. Sunil Sharma, a member of the Executive Council, is among one of the prominent voices advocating for another round of admissions. In a recent interview, he expressed his satisfaction with the announcement, stating, “I am delighted that the second Mop-Up Round has been introduced. This is a wonderful gift for students during the festive season of Dussehra and Diwali.”

The mop-up round is organised for admitting candidates. It is applicable in certain shortlisted colleges and programs only.

Following is the schedule for Round 2

Display of Vacant Seat – October 14 ,2024 ,5:00 PM

Colleges to select and grant admission – 2:00 PM, October 16,2024 till October 18,2024

Last date for fee payment- October 19,2024 till 5:00PM

The admission in the mop-up round will be purely based on the merit score of the qualifying examination. It will be based on the program-specific eligibility state in the Information bulletin. The criteria have raised several concerns, as there have been reports, due to these criteria many students are unable to take up the seat as they are not able to meet the percentage criteria leading to empty seats. Mr. Sharma stated “During the first Mop-Up Round, certain colleges were not allowed to admit students below a specific percentage. This is a flawed policy because, for us, every student’s admission is important, regardless of their percentage.”

However, the university is hopeful to fill maximum seats in the second Mop-Up round. Candidates are advised to check the official website for latest information and guidelines related to the second mop up round admissions.
