DU allocates 24,869 Seats in second round for undergraduate admission
The University of Delhi has allocated 24,869 Seats in Second Round for Undergraduate admissions. Irrespective of only 6,100 seats available, the university allocated a higher number of seats, anticipating the a lot of students will not accept their seats.
The Dean of admission, Haneet Gandhi informed ANI "In the first round, we observed that around 35,000 students did not accept their allocated seats. Considering this trend, we're allocating more seats in the second round to ensure all seats are optimally filled and we can commence classes on August 29,"
In addition the University told, in round 2 , a special provision was made to reconsider candidates who were rejected in the first round due to invalid certificates or documents.

The university had released a list of 6,100 vacant seats available for the second round of undergraduate admissions. Following the conclusion of round 1, around 98 per cent seats have been filled.
According to the admission timeline, DU’s first round ended on August 21 ,2024. The university’s 2nd Merit List 2024 released on August 25 after completing the first round of admissions. Eligible candidates included in this list must confirm their seats by paying the admission fee by August 27, 2024. Between August 22 and 23, students will be permitted to rearrange their preferences according to the available seats.
The selection process of Delhi University is divided into three phases. The phase 1 was about applying to the DU college by registering at CSAS Portal, the next phase was about filling the preference list of colleges and lastly the third phase is the allocation-cum-admission process.
The candidates are allotted seats on the basis of their score, CUET rank and preference list.
As per the Du notification, the colleges will begin by August 29,2024.
