In process of making education more interesting and insightful, the Delhi government has commenced with special modules on three new criminal laws .It is for Senior secondary students to enhance legal awareness.

The National Council of Education research and training  (NCERT) in Delhi has curated these modules. It will cover the Bharitya Nyaya Sanhita , Bhartiya Suraksha Sanhita and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam . It is for classes 11 and 12.

he Nyaya Sanhita defines crimes and punishments, the Suraksha Sanhita governs criminal investigations and trials, and the Sakshya Adhiniyam regulates the presentation of evidence in courts. These laws collectively ensure public safety, uphold justice, and maintain the integrity of the legal system.

The three new criminal laws, which came into effect on July 1, 2024, have brought significant reforms to India's criminal justice system, replacing the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Indian Evidence Act, which have been in place since the British era.

As per the official circular, the purpose of this initiative is to instil a sense of responsibility on students and educators alike. It is specifically concerned in issues relating to the emotional and physical violence. Therefore, it is to ensure they can effectively address such matters.

The module has to be taught in all government, government-aided and unaided private schools under Directorate of Education (DoE). The module will be shared with students, teachers and parents.

Delhi Government has been taking several initiatives in the educations sector. It has continuously worked upon transforming the schools for better. From improving the infrastructure and quality of schools, to providing mental well-being environment and efforts for students and teachers alike, providing coaching for entrance examinations like JEE and NEET and now modules on three criminal laws to spread awareness and inculcating responsible behavior among students.
