The Delhi government teachers will receive a disaster management training. The Directorate stated that the session will be of three days and will be held for 76 shortlisted nodal in-charges of different school across the Delhi NCR.
An official stated "The three-day session will be conducted to prepare teachers on how to respond in case of an earthquake, a blaze or flooding. The session will be attended by Physical Education teachers of the schools."
In the recent past, various schools all over Delhi NCR have received bomb threats. The Old Rajinder Nagar incident where three UPSC aspirants had died due to flooding of basement, due to which many institutes which were opened in the basement were sealed. The Directorate of Education also issued several new safety measures and guidelines for safety of school students.
In the month of July, the Delhi Government issued new safety guidelines for schools nin the city. As per the guidelines, school’s basements can only be used for activities specified in the master plan or the sanctioned building plan. It is also stated that all school gates must be functional and only used for entry and exit, with all the access shall be marked properly and clearly stated in evacuation plan.
The directorate has also mentioned that all necessary steps are need to be taken to avoid water logging around the premises and electrical wiring and fittings, appliances shall be checked and all safety norms shall be followed to avoid any kind of incident. The school must have all the fire and safety measures.
