According to the Vice-Chancellor of DU, the delay in CUET UG results might lead to the commencement of the first semester classes on August 16. The NTA had originally scheduled the CUET-UG results to be announced by June 30. This delay is particularly impactful as CUET-UG results are pivotal for admissions to prominent universities such as DU and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), along with other Central universities.
The start of the semester for first-year students at Delhi University (DU) is expected to be postponed to August 16 due to delays in releasing the results of the Central University Entrance Test (CUET-UG), announced Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh on Saturday.
Originally scheduled to commence on August 1, the delay in result publication has disrupted the academic schedule. However, classes for students in other semesters will proceed as planned from August 1.
"The delay in results will impact the academic calendar for first-semester students enrolled through CUET-UG admissions, potentially shifting the start date to August 16. Classes for students in other semesters will commence from August 1," Vice Chancellor Singh informed ANI.
Regarding communication from the National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting CUET-UG, Singh stated, "We have not received any communication from the NTA regarding the results." The NTA is currently addressing allegations of paper leaks related to NEET-UG and UGC-NET, which has contributed to the delay.
Initially expected on June 30 as per the NTA's bulletin, the delay in CUET-UG results is significant as it affects admissions to major universities like DU and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), among others.
CUET-UG serves as the primary entrance test for undergraduate programs at 46 Central universities, with this year's exams conducted from May 15 to May 31 in both online and offline formats. The delay in result announcements impacts the admission schedules of all participating universities. DU had planned to open its phase two admissions portal by July 2 to fill 71,000 seats based on CUET-UG scores.
As lakhs of students and 261 universities, including institutions like Allahabad University and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), await the CUET-UG 2024 results to initiate the undergraduate admission process, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chief M. Jagadesh Kumar assured that the NTA is working to expedite the result announcement.
"After the draft key challenge period, experts review the challenges and prepare the final key. This usually takes about a week or two, but the NTA is committed to promptly announcing the results," Kumar informed ANI.
