Counseling for special category engineering admissions in Tamil Nadu has begun

On Monday, the online counseling period for candidates under the 7.5% special reservation category for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2024 opened.
State Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy started the virtual counseling session to make it easier for students to get into BE and BTech programs through the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Guindy.
Minister Ponmudy declared that 664 applications had been received in total to occupy the 111 seats set aside for athletes, veterans, and people with physical disabilities under the special category.
"Those who could not secure seats in this category are encouraged to apply for general and other categories of counseling," Ponmudy told the press.
Students applying under the 7.5% quota from state government schools will be the primary focus of the online counseling sessions, which will be available until September 11.
The procedure, which includes making choices, assigning seats, confirming assignments, and reporting to universities to pay fees, will be carried out in multiple rounds. Depending on their ranks, candidates will take part in the rounds.
