IIT-Madras' data analytics on the NEET-UG 2024 results revealed "no abnormality" and no signs of widespread or localized malpractice, the Centre informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday. This followed the court's inquiry about using data analytics to identify suspect cases.

In an affidavit, the Centre detailed how the Department of Higher Education requested IIT-Madras to conduct an extensive analysis of the exam data. This involved evaluating marks distribution, city-wise and center-wise rank distribution, and the spread of candidates across various marks ranges. The analysis showed a bell-shaped curve, typical of large-scale exams, indicating no abnormalities.

The study also compared the 2023 and 2024 exam results for the top 1.4 lakh ranks, representing the total number of available seats. The findings confirmed no evidence of mass malpractice or unusual benefits to candidates from specific centers or cities.

Additionally, the Centre noted a general increase in scores, particularly in the 550-720 range, attributed to a 25% syllabus reduction. This rise was consistent across multiple locations, further reducing the likelihood of malpractice.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) addressed allegations of leaked papers on Telegram, labeling the videos as fake. The NTA reported that security measures had identified 153 unfair means cases, with appropriate actions recommended against 81 candidates. Sixteen FIRs have been filed regarding the exam, excluding those initiated by local authorities.

The NTA also clarified that only 61 candidates scored a perfect 720/720, with a significant portion achieving this due to a revised Physics answer key. These top scorers were distributed across 58 centers in 41 cities, dispelling concerns about localized malpractice. The Supreme Court is set to hear related pleas on Thursday, focusing on the exam's integrity and potential breaches.
