In a new directive, CBSE announced, "Following numerous requests from schools about admissions due to parental transfers and essential repeats, we have partially modified our earlier circular dated August 2, 2023. Schools can now admit up to 45 students per section for mid-session admissions caused by parental transfers and for essential repeat (ER) students. This exception is available on a case-by-case basis, with schools required to apply to the relevant Regional Office with the necessary documentation."

Key Changes:

1. Increased Limit for Specific Cases: Schools can now enroll up to 45 students per section for mid-year admissions due to parental transfers and essential repeats.

2. Case-by-Case Approval: This increase is not automatic; schools must seek approval from their regional office with appropriate documentation.

3. Focus on Smaller Classes Remains: The standard intake for new classes should still be capped at 40 students per section.

Schools with adequate infrastructure can apply through the SARAS portal to expand the number of sections to accommodate more students. The application period is open until June 30.
