CBSE hosts a workshop on parenting for students' wellbeing, it was conducted by Sardar Patel Vidyalaya.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has hosted a workshop on “Parenting for students wellbeing,” organised by Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in New Delhi. The initiative’s purpose was to provide insights on effective strategies to support the emotional and psychological health of school students to around 150 principals from CBSE across Delhi and NCR.
The workshop began with a lamp-lightning ceremony, followed by a school choir performance. While addressing the audience, Himanshu Gupta, Secretary, CBSE, laid importance on collaborative efforts in enhancing student well-being. Rahul Singh, Chairperson, CBSE, spoke about the evolving challenges faced by parents and the necessity for schools to take an active role in guiding families.
Taking lessons from his own experience, he highlighted that parenting is a dynamic role with evolving responsibilities and how effective parenting can benefit from the shared wisdom of different generations. He focused on the importance of instilling values that contribute to a child’s happiness. The workshop featured expert-led sessions focused on the crucial role of parenting in shaping students' emotional and psychological health.
Some of the speakers and the insights included, Rohit Kumar, a Personal Growth Facilitator, provided tips on the mental and emotional needs of students. While Sonia Pillai, Executive Coach and Interpersonal Skill Trainer, shared practical strategies for nurturing open dialogue between parents and their children. And Anuradha Joshi, Principal of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya offered valuable strategies for supporting and maintaining the emotional needs of students.
The workshop ends with an interactive Question and Answer session, which provided an opportunity to address specific challenges and share insights. In corporation of National Education Policy 2020, the workshop proved to be CBSE’s commitment to development of students by empowering school leaders with knowledge and skills to help parents in creating a comfortable and nurturing environment for student’s wellbeing.
