The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened its first Regional Office (RO) and Center of Excellence (CoE) outside of India, located in Dubai, in a historic step to strengthen Indian education in the United Arab Emirates.

On Teachers' Day, CBSE officials, members of the Indian Mission in Dubai, and principals from 78 schools in Dubai and the Northern Emirates gathered for a special orientation session to commemorate the milestone.

The meeting gave people a forum to talk on the objectives, reach, and anticipated effects of the new office on the area.During his visit to the UAE on February 13, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the opening of the CBSE RO & CoE in Dubai. On July 2, 2024, the office formally opened at the Consulate General of India in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Ram Shankar, the Director of CBSE RO & CoE in Dubai, gave a thorough summary of CBSE's regional purpose during the orientation. He outlined the main goals of the board, emphasising its support of innovative teaching approaches and learning outcome-based education.

He emphasised that in order to accommodate students with different skill levels, CBSE would implement a strategy that prioritises outcome-based learning and offer subjects at different levels.

Along with the introduction of new skill courses in line with international educational trends, the board will also support health education and art-integrated learning as components of a more comprehensive educational approach.

To make education more competency-based and student-friendly, the CBSE Regional Office is also working on a number of assessment reforms.

This entails creating annual pedagogical plans, improving internal assessments, and implementing case-based and competency-focused questions. Additionally, the board wants to encourage experiential learning by utilising cutting-edge techniques like storytelling, sports, and toy-based education.

Controlling exams in the region will be mostly the responsibility of the recently established regional office in Dubai. The Center of Excellence will concentrate on providing pre-service teachers with the knowledge and abilities needed to keep up with the latest advancements in education and international teaching approaches.

The importance of this new initiative was emphasised by India's consul general in Dubai, Satish Kumar Sivan, who said, "The Center for Excellence will empower teachers with cutting-edge training, enabling them to stay updated on best practices and innovative technologies."

Students' educational experience will be enhanced by this." "The office will significantly enhance the resources and support that CBSE provides to students, educators, and parents in the region," he continued. For thousands of stakeholders who stand to gain from its operations, it stands for their goals, dreams, and aspirations. For many years to come, the CBSE office will act as a centre for academic support and a beacon of excellence."
