CAT 2024: IIM-Calcutta warns students against fake websites

On August 29, candidates for the CAT 2024 exam should be aware of some bogus websites posing as the official CAT 2024 website, according to a warning released by the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C).

According to a press release released by IIM Calcutta on Thursday, the "CAT Center has been made aware of a fraudulent website posing as a website for CAT registration, targeting applicants and soliciting personal information." Students should be cautious and visit only the official CAT website. They should also avoid falling for phishing or pharming schemes run by unscrupulous websites that mimic the official CAT website. The official release alerted students.

The CAT official website is iimcat.ac.in and no other website should be consulted for CAT application and admit cards. To ensure they are accessing the right website, students should keep in mind the following points:

Always check the URL and ensure it is the official website for CAT.
Be aware of unsecured websites asking for personal information or payments.
Report any suspicious activity to the CAT help desk at cat2024_helpdesk@iimcal.ac.in

The Common Admission Test 2024 (CAT 2024) will be a computer-based examination which will be conducted on November 24 in three sessions. The registration process for CAT 2024 started at 10 am on August 1 and will conclude at 3 pm on September 13. Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a mobile phone number throughout the selection process.

IIM Calcutta will be releasing admit cards between November 5 and November 24 following the conclusion of registration. In the second week of January 2025, following the exam in November, the CAT 2024 results are anticipated to be released.

CAT is a prerequisite for admission to various Post Graduate and Fellow/Doctorate programmes of IIMs. Listed institutions that are not IIM members are permitted to use CAT scores. A list of such institutions is provided on the CAT website. IIMs have no role in the selection process of non-IIM institutions. Last year, a total of 91 non-IIM institutions also used the CAT score scores to grant admission to aspirants into various management programmes.
