Admissions for Physics PhD programmes at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Hyderabad campus, have begun for both full-time and part-time positions. Applications for the seats are open to candidates who have earned at least 60% in MSc Physics or any BE or BTech program. An interview and a written exam will determine admission to BITS.
Applicants who have passed the GATE, NET, ME, MTech, and MPhil exams will not need to take the entrance exam. November 18 is the deadline for applying for PhD slots. Both written and interview shortlisted candidates will receive separate notifications from the institute. Students must go to the official website, bitsadmission.com/bitsphweb/index.aspx, in order to apply.
In its announcement, the Institute also listed the research areas for which they are seeking candidates. These include, among other things, high energy physics, general relativity, black holes, astrophysicists, quantum optics, biomaterials, biophysics, and modeling quantum devices.
Students who are accepted into the course will be eligible for research assistantships or projects up to Rs 31,000 per month in the first year, with larger sums in future years. Selected candidates will also need to be mentored while they take part in the Institute's teaching and other developmental activities.
Candidates for the PhD programme at BITS Hyderabad have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge subjects in fields like biology, astrophysics, and quantum optics.
