Bengal Police to ensure safety of UGC NET students amid 'Nabanna Abhiyan' To take adequate steps.

The West Bengal ensure the safety of University Grants Commission NET candidates appearing for the examination scheduled on August 27 ,2024. However, the same day is coincided with the 'Nabanna Abhiyan' protest organised by the Paschim Banga Chhatro Samaj.

The candidates are worried, and the concern has raised till the protesters ability to reach the exam centres. In midst of this, the west Bengal police has asked the students to calm down and stated to ensure the safety of students. They stated the personnel will be deployed across the state to ensure that UGC NET candidates can reach their exam centres without hindrance. The examination is scheduled to be held in two sessions: from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Adding to which, the police also urged the candidates to remain calm and assured them of their safety. "In case of any emergency, candidates are requested to feel free to seek help from the nearest police personnel," The police shared it on X.

The police presence is expected be alert and robust, specifically in areas where the protest might cause disruptions, ensuring that all candidates can attend their exams on time.

Regarding the Nabanna Abhyan, the Student Federation of India (SFI) leaser Srijan Bhattacharya stated “Students’ outfits affiliated to the Left parties also opposed the rally on August 27 since it would clash with the UGC-NET examination. Sources in the CPI(M) said that the party has informed all its leaders, members, outfits to not take part in the march. “I don’t know who called this rally. But it is now clear that any student outfit can’t call a rally on a day when there is the UGC-NET examination. So, we will not be a part of this rally,”

To maintain peace and discipline the West Bengal police has ensured to take adequate efforts to provide safety to students appearing for the exam.

The UGC NET exam is a CBT based examination for over 83 subjects. The exam beginning from August 27, 2024 and will be concluding on September 4 ,2024.
