The majority of issues with the public education system would be resolved by combining state-run schools with low enrollment, according to Pasang Dorjee Sona, the education minister for Arunachal Pradesh.

The minister stated that school mergers should be carried out pragmatically and in accordance with the availability of land, infrastructure, and easy access to necessities while on a tour to assess the implementation of the "Chintan Shivir."

Sona stated on Friday while visiting Yingkiong, the Upper Siang district headquarters, "Our vision is to provide quality education to every child from elementary level itself by clubbing and merging primary level schools, and provide quality infrastructure and better human resources, besides other interventions."

In August, the Education Department held a three-day "Chintan Shivir." Stakeholders talked on methods for giving every child in the state access to a high-quality education throughout the meeting. "We launched a mission to reach out to people in every district of the state and know their ideas and ground situations so that there is no hindrance during the implementation of the programmes". Sona stated.

According to him, if pupils are to have a better future, school clubbing needs to be addressed seriously. According to advisor to the minister of education Mutchu Mithi, the state's educational system is being improved for quality above quantity. In a letter to the minister, Duhon Tekseng, the deputy director of school education for Upper Siang, asked for improvements to teachers' quarters and schools, as well as the addition of a science stream to Mariyang Government Higher Secondary School.

Sona had reported to the legislature in July that more than 600 schools in the state had been shuttered or combined with other educational institutions. Higher primary, upper primary, secondary, and lower secondary schools in Arunachal Pradesh are all run by the government, numbering over 2,800. There are 5,900 ISSE (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) instructors and nearly 7,600 ordinary teachers. An insufficiency of 414 TGTs and 186 PGTs, particularly in math and science, has been reported by state officials.
