Andhra Pradesh Schools to be closed till October 17, 2024, due to heavy rainfall across nation.
Districts in Andhra Pradesh are facing continuous rainfall. The weather conditions have prompted the state government to declare holidays for schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the affected areas.
Schools situated across the district of Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore and Praksan will be closed until October 17,2024, Thursday. The residents in Tugo district have requested similar closures due to heavy rainfall.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rainfall across the state of Andhra Pradesh till Thursday. It is due to a low-pressure system which is forming over the South Bay of Bengal, it is expected to strengthen and move toward the coast intensifying rainfall across the state.
Moreover as per the IMD reports z districts such as Krishna, Bapatla,Nellore,Prakasan, Tirupati and Chittor are likely to face significant rainfall. With the wind speed reaching up to 65 kilometres per hour by Thursday. While Sri Satyasai, Annamaiya and YSR district are expected to receive very heavy downpours.
The Andhra Pradesh Government has issued early warnings to district collectors. It has urged them to prepare for potential flooding in low-lying areas. In addition, the fishermen have been directed to stay off the coast due to dangerous sea conditions. The authorities have instructed local officials to ensure public safety, specifically in flood prone regions, by keeping the community updated and prepared for emergencies.
The government has taken several initiaves and precautions in present scenario of rainfall. Previously the schools were to open from October 13,2024 however due to extreme weather conditions the government has decided to shut schools for safety purpose. Similarly in other states as well the schools were closed due to rainfall and waterlogging, in state of Maharashtra and Bihar. These steps are taken to ensure protection of students, staff and teachers alike. With improvement in weather conditions the schools will be reopened from October 17,2024.
