Among India's schools and institutions, over 30 crore students: Economic Survey

A startling 26.52 crore pupils attend Indian schools, while 4.33 crore attend universities, according to the Economic Survey 2023-24, which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented to Parliament on Monday.

This indicates that there are more than 30 crore students enrolled in schools, colleges, and other institutions in India.

In India, the number of people enroled in higher education has increased significantly, especially among disadvantaged groups like SC, ST, and OBC.

According to the Economic Survey, the number of women enrolled in higher education rose by 31.6 percent from 1.57 crore in FY15 to 2.07 crore in FY22. Better employment prospects and increased equity for formerly marginalised populations are shown by this development.

Initiatives for Early Childhood Education

With an emphasis on ensuring that children have a solid foundation in reading and numeracy by the third standard, the NEP 2020 is spearheading extensive reforms in the education sector.

The goal of the 'Poshan bhi Padhai bhi' initiative is to create the largest, best preschool network in the world at Anganwadi Centre, promoting universal early childhood education.
