According to the most recent NEET UG 2024 results, 67 students received an All India Rank (AIR) of 1.

Although experts and students are concerned about how this may affect admissions and the cutoff, NTA clarified that this is the result of a change in NCERT books.

Atoms were covered in a question on the NEET UG 2024 Chemistry test. The task assigned to the students was to select one response from the four possibilities that indicated which of the two statements (in the question) was true.

After providing a temporary response to the main objections, NTA noticed that two of the options provided were marked correctly by NCERT in both their old and new books.

The answer that matched the old NCERT book was "Atoms of each element are stable." Nonetheless, "atoms of most of the elements are stable," according to the most recent NCERT textbooks.

Keeping this in mind, all students who checked either of the alternatives received five marks from NTA. This led to a rise in the number of toppers as the combined marks of 44 candidates went from 715 to 720.

In response to the question of whether this was the only factor contributing to this year's record number of NEET UG toppers, NTA stated that although this was a significant factor, "the fact that the paper was comparatively easier this year and there was a huge increase in the number of registrations also played important roles in the increased number of toppers."

Over the previous year, when there were just 20.87 lakh registrations for NEET UG, a record 23.81 lakh students registered. Thirteen, 31,321 female candidates, ninety-six,393 male candidates, and seventeen transgender candidates took the exam, according to the NTA data.

96.92 percent of male candidates, 96.96 percent of female candidates, and 94.44 percent of transgender candidates attended, despite the fact that the overall attendance rate was recorded at 96.94 percent.

NTA has also denied the problems of students that this may negatively impact the students in the general category. All other categories and general students still have the same number of places as before. Nobody will suffer because the exam was also easy.
