A total of 55,25,342 students, comprising 2,947,335 in class 10 and 25,78,007 in class 12, registered for the 2024 UP Board Examinations. Information is evident in indicating that 86,745 fewer pupils are registered for the 2025 board exams. The number of candidates in intermediate school has climbed by 1,20,439, while the number of candidates in high school has decreased by 2,07,184 from 2024 to 2025, according to officials.

In the meantime, the UP Board is busy designating which schools will serve as exam sites while it has not yet released the schedule for the 2025 high school and intermediate exams, which are scheduled to begin in February.

Exams will be administered at each center to a maximum of 2000 pupils. A maximum of 1500 students could take exams in any one center, contrary to the previous year's regulation that only allowed 1200 students at a time. However, government-run and government-aided secondary schools with larger enrollment than that have this option. Yet, a clause stating that a center for no more than 2000 students in government-run, government-aided, and unaided secondary schools with greater holding capacity must be included in the center determination policy that UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh sent to the District Inspectors of Schools (DIOS) for the 2025 exam edition.

It is expected that doing this will lower the number of testing locations and improve board exam oversight. The minimum enrollment requirement for any examination center is still 250, just like it was the previous year. The UP Board is working to finalize exam centers, aiming to enhance oversight and reduce the number of locations.
