1st MBA program in digital supply chain and maritime introduced globally by IIT Madras

IIT Madras has launched a two-year curriculum that will concentrate on cutting-edge digital technologies like blockchain, IoT, AI, and ML, improving students' capacity to address contemporary maritime concerns and propel career progress.

The world's first MBA program in digital maritime and supply chain was introduced by the Indian Institute of Technology or IIT Madras. It is made to meet the needs of professionals who are employed all over the world.

Today's inaugural ceremony was hosted on campus and attended by academics, students, and representatives of the industry.

The goal of this innovative 24-month program is to give professionals from around the world the skills they need to manage supply chains and maritime trade in the rapidly changing digital landscape.

It was developed by the Departments of Management Studies and Ocean Engineering at IIT Madras in collaboration with i-maritime Consultancy, an industry partner.

Candidates must have at least two years of full-time job experience and a bachelor's degree with at least 60% of the required marks to be able to apply.

The IIT Madras Admission Test is administered online, and those who make the short list are then invited for in-person interviews. For this program, applications are currently being accepted; the first cohort will start in September 2024.

Professor V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, emphasized the special features of the MBA (Digital Maritime and Supply Chain) program, saying, "This cutting-edge program is designed to enhance the expertise of professionals and entrepreneurs in navigating the complexities of modern maritime and supply chain industries." Our objective is to furnish attendees with an all-encompassing comprehension of how digital technologies might enhance operations and propel strategic expansion."

The curriculum provides flexibility and a thorough educational experience by combining online study with on-campus immersion sessions in a unique way.

The participants will work with leading edge digital technologies like blockchain, AI, ML, and IoT over the course of two years, which will improve their capacity to address contemporary marine concerns and further their careers.

Speaking at the program's launch, Professor K Murali, Chair of the MBA (Digital Maritime and Supply Chain) Program at IIT Madras and Dean of Faculty, said, "This program is tailored for working professionals, seamlessly blending the flexibility of live online classes with on-campus collaboration."

The four-year MBA program consists of 900 hours of classroom instruction and project work, for a total of 192 credits. A demanding curriculum comprising six on-campus immersion modules and full access to IIT Madras' educational resources, such as the Digital Maritime Library, are provided to participants.

 

Among the program's main features are-

1. Blended learning: Professional flexibility through a mix of on-campus and online classes.

The program fee, which is payable in installments, is Rs 9,00,000. Scholarships up to 50% of the course cost are offered, and bank loans are available for the program.
