Y.K.M. College of Education, established in 1999-2000 in memory of Late Sri Yarra Krishna Murthy, Ex.M.L.A., of Parvathipuram, is dedicated to preparing competent and compassionate teachers. The college is situated in an ideal location in Maripivalasa, 7 km from Parvathipuram, spread across a spacious 5-acre campus. Recently, a new building has been constructed to accommodate the growing needs of the institution. Recognizing the significant role teachers play in shaping the destiny of the nation, the college embraces the responsibility of nurturing excellent educators. It understands that teachers have the power to transform the lives and careers of students, molding future architects, scientists, engineers, and politicians. With this understanding, Y.K.M. College of Education is committed to developing skilled and responsible teachers who can make a positive impact in the classroom. The college offers a two-year B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) course, affiliated with Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. It provides various specializations, including Degree Education with departments in Mathematics, Physical Science, Biological Science, Social Science, and English. The annual intake is 50 students, with a sanctioned intake of 1 unit from the academic year 2021-22. Y.K.M. College of Education ensures a comprehensive learning experience for its students. The campus boasts well-equipped laboratories that adhere to NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) norms, a library with an extensive collection of books and journals, ample parking space, and a vast playground for sports activities. The college follows the academic calendar suggested by Andhra University and aligns its curriculum with the guidelines provided by APSCHE (Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education). Scholarships are available for eligible students, provided by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The college also organizes various sports events and offers transportation facilities through APSRTC (Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) buses. In the academic year 2021-22, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned scholarships to 34 students belonging to BC, SC, ST, EBC, and Minority categories. Y.K.M.
